Summer Saturdays: Garden Wheelbarrow Revive

Have a rusted and cemented wheelbarrow lying around? Don't throw it away just yet! With a little effort and some Earth Safe Finishes Perfect Paint, you can bring it back to life. For this week's Summer Saturday project, we'll walk you through the steps to revive your wheelbarrow and transform it into a functional and beautiful garden accessory.

Let's get started!

Materials Needed:

STEP 1: CLEAN THE RUST OFF THE WHEELBARROW

Mix equal parts vinegar and water in a container. Dip a scrub brush into the mixture and scrub the rusted areas of the wheelbarrow thoroughly. The acidic properties of vinegar will help dissolve the rust and make it easier to remove. Rinse the wheelbarrow with water and let it dry completely.

STEP 2: THERE ISN'T ONE! YOU DON'T NEED TO PRIME!

One of the great features of Earth Safe Finishes Perfect Paint is that it works as both a primer and paint. So you don't need to apply a separate primer to the wheelbarrow. Shake the paint can well and open it.

STEP 3: PAINT THE SURFACE

Using a paintbrush, apply an even coat of Perfect Paint to the rusted metal, rotted wood, and even rubber parts of the wheelbarrow. The paint is designed to adhere well to various surfaces, hence the name "Perfect Paint"! Allow the first coat to dry completely. If necessary, apply a second coat for better coverage and durability. Follow the drying time recommended by the manufacturer.

STEP 4: PROTECT

Once the Perfect Paint has dried, it's time to protect your wheelbarrow from the elements. Marine Varnish is designed for outdoor use and provides a durable and weather-resistant finish. Using a clean paintbrush, apply a coat of marine varnish to the painted surface of the wheelbarrow. Allow it to dry completely according to the manufacturer's instructions.

STEP 5: ADD SOIL AND FLOWERS

Now that your wheelbarrow is transformed and protected, it's time to turn it into a functional planter. Fill the wheelbarrow with soil, leaving enough space for your flowers or plants to grow. Choose your favorite flowers or plants, and carefully plant them in the soil. Ensure that the plants have proper drainage and water them as needed.

Congratulations! You've successfully revived your old wheelbarrow, turning it into a stunning planter for your garden, giving new life to an old item. Enjoy the beauty of your revamped wheelbarrow and the lovely flowers it now carries.

Happy gardening!
